AA/Istanbul

US President Joe Biden left Saudi Arabia on Saturday following a four-day tour of the Middle East, during which he visited Israel and Palestine.

The American channel “Al-Hurra” claimed that “Biden left Saudi Arabia, following his first visit to the Middle East in his capacity as President of the United States”.

In this regard, the Saudi public channel Al-Ekhbariya said: “Biden was greeted upon his departure from the airport in the port city of Jeddah by the governor of the Makkah region, the Emir Khaled al-Faisal” .

Saudi Arabia announced the closure of the Jeddah summit on security and development on Saturday, which saw the participation of US President Joe Biden and nine Arab leaders.

On the sidelines of the Jeddah summit, Joe Biden announced the United States’ intention to sign a new memorandum of understanding to provide $1.45 billion in aid a year to Jordan.

The leaders gathered at the Jeddah summit underlined “the need to end any unilateral action that would undermine the two-state solution (Israeli and Palestinian), and to respect the historic status quo in Jerusalem and its Holy Places”.

The final statement also called on Iran to cooperate with regional countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to safeguard regional and international stability.

This is Biden’s first visit to Saudi Arabia since taking office on Jan. 20, 2021, and the twelfth for a U.S. president in five decades.

Joe Biden traveled directly from Israel to the Saudi city of Jeddah, a first for an American president.
