Allan Saint-Maximin: Newcastle star does crazy sprint training in Kriens shirt

Allan Saint-Maximin is arguably the most talented player in the billionaire club Newcastle United squad. Fabian Schär’s teammate has been playing in northern England since 2019, but despite his spectacular style of play, the Frenchman is not undisputed among fans. Among the supporters of the “Magpies”, the 25-year-old, with a market value of around CHF 32 million, enjoys the reputation of not being the most diligent professional.

Saint-Maximin wanted to counteract this this summer. Even before he went to the training camp with Newcastle in Austria, the dribbling artist worked alone during his holidays. The Frenchman let the critical fans participate in his sometimes very unusual training sessions on Instagram.

Among other things, the former French U-21 international published a video showing him in an uphill race once morest an SUV. Particularly curious: Saint-Maximin completes his sprint training in a jersey from Challenge League relegated SC Kriens. The number 11 is emblazoned on the back of the shirt.

But how come the Premier League star wears a Kriens shirt? Oan Djorkaeff (25), son of the French world and European champion Youri Djorkaeff (54), played together with Saint-Maximin in the offspring of record champion Saint-Étienne. Although the two parted ways early on, they are still good friends today. While the Newcastle professional is currently preparing for the new Premier League season, friend Djorkaeff is currently without a club.
