The Heads of State of the member countries of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) will meet at a summit, face-to-face, in Kinshasa (DR Congo), announces an ECCAS press release sent to the newspaper de Brazza.com .

The summit was convened by Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Congolese head of state in his capacity as current president of ECCAS. The summit will be preceded by preparatory meetings of ministers from July 15. It will review the proper functioning of ECCAS institutions. ECCAS was created in 1983 and brings together ten countries (Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of CongoSao Tome and Principe, Chad). It is one of the five development areas on which the African Union intends to build continental cooperation and integration. Equatorial Guinea, has the mission of fostering political dialogue in the region, creating the regional common market, establishing common sectoral policies, promoting and strengthening harmonious cooperation and balanced and self-sustaining development in the areas of industry, transport and communications, energy, agriculture, natural resources, trade, customs, monetary and financial matters, human resources, tourism, education, culture, science and technology and the movement of people in order to achieve collective autonomy, to raise the standard of living of the populations. In order to guarantee development, solidarity, free movement of goods and services and peace in the region, a strategic integration plan was adopted in 2007 by the member countries.
