First confirmed case of monkey pox in Martinique

The patient isolated at home

An adult with mild symptoms consistent with MONKEYPOX virus infection was treated with us a few days ago.

This is a resident who is said to have recently traveled to an area where the virus is circulating. This person was immediately placed in solitary confinement at his home. To date, his state of health shows no signs of seriousness. The Martinique ARS and the France Antilles public health team, in conjunction with the doctor who treated the patient, have begun investigations to trace the chain of contacts. Since his return to Martinique, this patient would not have had any close contact.

Opening of preventive vaccination in Martinique

The health authorities remind you that as soon as symptoms suggestive of infection with the MONKEYPOX virus appear, you must isolate yourself and contact the 15, who will direct you to a medical consultation.

Faced with the spread of the monkeypox virus, the High Authority for Health recommends that preventive vaccination be offered to the groups of people most exposed to the virus. This vaccine offer also extends to Martinique in a dedicated vaccination center.
