The CO2 in the sights of the Department of Transport
A new requirement to force states to measure the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by drivers on highways, and eventually reduce it, has just been proposed by the US Department of Transportation. An “excellent” idea, which is however likely to be debated in the Supreme Court, believes Alice Hill, former special assistant to President Barack Obama and senior director of resilience policy within the National Security Council, now in charge of mission for energy and the environment at the Council on Foreign Relations.
