During his time through The Plot of Power (LN+), Arroyo Salgado aimed once morest Fernández and He admitted not “understanding” how the president went from affirming that the death of the judicial official was a murder to defending the hypothesis of suicide with total vehemence.
“I don’t understand why he changed his position. The truth, I do not understand you’d have to ask him what went through his head”, he remarked. And he added: “We have no doubts. In the family we have no doubts regarding what happened. We know it was an assassination”.
Then, he delved into his relationship with the President as well as with the Government of the day. “I only saw Alberto Fernández twice. When he was chief of staff, I took a statement from him at Government House. And on another occasion, he approached the court. That was the only deal I had”.
Regarding his current bond, the magistrate stressed: “My current link is null. I have no more contact or dealings with him, just as I had no relationship with any other administration.” Along these lines, he revealed, however, that “two former presidents contacted each other to meet but it did not seem right to me.”
He also emphasized the possibility that the criminal case of the olive trees gatefile that had as protagonists the President and the first lady for holding a birthday party in the presidential villa during mandatory isolation, remains in the hands of the 1st Court of San Isidro in which she works.
“I can tell you little regarding it. She is in the process. I cannot express an opinion that can be determined as a prejudgment. The fact itself, the investigation that concerns the photo, is currently being processed at the headquarters of Doctor Mirabelli, the 2nd Federal Court. For now, there would be no possibility to change it”, he detailed.
Pointing out the death of her ex-husband, which occurred on January 18, 2015 following filing a complaint once morest Cristina Kirchner and Héctor Timerman for covering up the authors of the AMIA attack, she said she no longer felt “fear.” “The only thing we have is prudence of our movements”, assured.
He then revealed details regarding intimidating calls and/or threats that he received years later, in which prosecutor Nisman was mentioned: “An arrested drug trafficker came to tell one of the Court secretaries that if I did not release his family, I was going to end up like Nisman and my daughters like Candela”.
“I also received calls with a prefix from the province of Santa Fe. They attended and breathed nothing more. They were called intimidators, they cannot be classified as anything else. There was even a shootout in another prosecutor’s office as a warning. I ended up excusing myself from the file for that, ”he narrated next.
Under the theme of threats, Arroyo Salgado insisted that “it was something that Nisman experienced all the time and that not only influenced his work but was crucial at the time of his assassination.” “Nobody escapes that Nisman was being threatened since 2012, both he and us”he remembered.
And he opined: “All the events preceding the lifeless appearance can be possible motives. It remains to determine who would be responsible for this murder in the framework of their investigation. If the cell phones were related to your work, It would be more of an assassination than a homicide”.
In relation to the progress of the case, the judge said be “satisfied” and “consistent” with how the Justice operated: ”In the file it was clear that Nisman was the victim of a magnifying glass. That’s what’s important. I do not seek revenge. be forgiven I dont have enemies. But I want the truth.”
Still, he admitted thatit is necessary to repair the pain that this has caused, that has destroyed our life for quite some time and that we are rebuilding with the help of many people. Had it not been for the support of citizens and journalism, which expressed itself in favor, we would have been alone.
In the last sections of the television dialogue, Arroyo Salgado remarked that “With the death of Alberto Nisman, a question remains regarding his work”while insisting that “It is difficult to resolve since these types of cases end up being politicized in one way or another.”
“Just as it happened with murder, it is full of operators who seek to hinder the arrival of the truth. The reality is that our system is obsolete, we do not have permanent training. Our country is experiencing a very special moment of talent flight”, he criticized.
And he ended the interview by pointing directly to those who work in the intelligence services: What I notice is that all State institutions are affected by the intelligence service, both what would be the former SIDE and the current AFI. All powers are currently intervened”.
