REED. The Raiffeisenbank Ried is currently showing the exhibition “arrived” with paintings by the German actor Peter Lohmeyer.
Lohmeyer, who is not only known for many films (“Das Wunder von Bern”) and TV series, was “Everyman” in Salzburg for eight years until 2020 and is a self-confessed Schalke 04 fan.
He began drawing and painting to brighten up his hotel room during theater engagements or filming – when he was “on set,” as he puts it. It is often only then that he has the feeling of having arrived. Lohmeyer has only been exhibiting his paintings for around six years, when curator Ulli Dirmayer told him that they were too good to throw away.
He paints on paper – a material that works and sometimes cracks or folds while working on the picture. For Lohmeyer, these are special features of the picture. Even if next to the pictures “not only the title but also a price is written”, Lohmeyer is concerned with the stories that each picture tells.
The exhibition in the Raiffeisenbank can still be seen until September 16th during the opening hours by appointment.
