Man shot dead in Burghausen: Ösi special unit “Cobra” hunts down arcade killers | Regional

Burghausen – Several shots were fired in Burghausen (District Altötting) near the Austrian border on Thursday evening around 8.30 p.m. A man (32) was killed, a suspect was caught following fleeing for hours.

A policewoman from the operations center of the Oberbayern Süd police headquarters in Rosenheim confirmed to BILD “a major operation in the area”.

According to BILD information, a man (32) was shot in front of an arcade in the “Lindach” industrial park during a dispute. Passers-by fled to safety and alerted the police. Despite immediate emergency medical care, the 32-year-old died on the spot.

The SEK from Munich was alerted to the crime scene because the killer was initially on the run. According to witnesses, he fled in a BMW.

The police searched with a large contingent for the shooter. Several checkpoints and roadblocks were set up. 80 firefighters were also on site, for example to illuminate the scene of the crime.

According to BILD information, the Austrian special unit “Cobra” then chased him. Shortly before midnight, a patrol was able to locate the getaway car in Überackern (Upper Austria). The “urgent suspect” was arrested around 1:30 a.m.

The police cordoned off the crime scene over a large area, officials carried out vehicle checks. Helicopter “Edelweiß” supported the search with thermal imaging camera and night vision device from the air.

The Kripo Mühldorf am Inn has started the investigation under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office in Traunstein. The police are currently not providing any information on the motive and other backgrounds “for reasons of investigation tactics”.
