The American billionaire, Bill Gates, announced his intention to give up his fortune, and donate it in the future to charitable causes, to finally be removed from the list of the world’s rich.
And Bill Gates, the fourth richest man in the world, revealed in a statement published by the Gates Foundation for Philanthropy, that he will donate $20 billion to charity.
And he posted on his Twitter account: “The foundation will increase its spending from $6 billion annually to $9 billion by 2026 due to recent global setbacks, including the pandemic, the Ukraine war and the climate crisis.”
He added, “As I look to the future, I plan to give almost all of my wealth to the Foundation, I will move off the list of the world’s richest people.”
He added, “I have a commitment to return my resources to society in ways that will have the greatest impact in reducing suffering and improving lives… I hope that other wealthy people will come forward to join this step as well.”
Bill Gates is now worth $118 billion, according to Forbes magazine, but that amount will become significantly lower following he donated to the charitable foundation he established in 2000.
