President of the United States, Joe Biden, stressing on keeping the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the US list of foreign terrorist organizations, said that the resumption of negotiations to revive the nuclear agreement depends on Iran’s decision, but that resorting to force to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon will be the last option.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, which was previously recorded in Washington and broadcast on this channel on Wednesday, Biden responded to whether his administration would keep the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the list of terrorist organizations, and if that led to the termination of the nuclear agreement, saying: “Yes.”
He noted that resuming negotiations to revive the nuclear deal depended on Iran, and said the United States would use force as a “last resort” to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Biden refused to answer whether the United States would cooperate with Israel in the event of a possible military operation once morest Iran, but said: “Tehran cannot have nuclear weapons.”
The President of the United States described the withdrawal of the previous US administration from the nuclear agreement as a “big mistake” and said, “Iran is closer to nuclear weapons than before, and I still believe that joining the nuclear agreement is logical.”
Earlier, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on his way to Tel Aviv with Joe Biden that Israel has a different view of the United States on the nuclear deal with Iran, but the Biden administration believes that diplomacy is the best way to prevent Tehran from acquiring weapons. nuclear.
Sullivan said: There is an agreement on the table and Biden believes that Iran should accept it.
It is noteworthy that Biden’s visit to Israel is the first stage of his trip to the Middle East. After arriving in Tel Aviv, he announced that he would discuss with the Israeli authorities the joint air defense system between Israel and a number of Arab countries, which aims to confront Iranian threats.
“The alliance between us and the United States is stronger than ever, and we are confident that Biden will continue to take the necessary measures to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon,” Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said in a meeting with Biden on Wednesday.
On the other hand, a spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in an interview with Al-Arabiya network, stressing Israel’s commitment to confronting Iran’s threats, that Israel has built a new advanced missile defense system to intercept drones and missiles, which changes the equation.
A spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office indicated that this defense system would deal a severe blow to the groups targeting Israel.
Coinciding with Biden’s visit to Israel, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Economic and diplomatic sanctions are not enough to stop regimes like Iran, and these regimes will only stop with military threats.”
