A Michigan woman and three relatives have died in an apparent triple murder-suicide following being denied a protective order for her husband – who was among the dead, according to police and a news report.
Tirany Savage, 35, her son Dayton Cowdrey, 13, her mother Kim Lynnette Ebright, 58, and Bo Eugene Savage, 35, were all found dead before dawn on Sunday in a home from gunshot wounds in the head, authorities said.
“All subjects involved had known relationships, and the incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide,” the County Roscommon Sheriff’s Department said in a news release on Monday.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the many friends and families who have been devastated by this loss.”
The identity of the shooter has not been confirmed, but a few weeks before the tragic turn of events, Tirany Savage requested a personal protection order from her husband Bo Eugene, according to the WPBM television network. But this was denied by a judge.
She also reportedly started the divorce process.
Tirany Savage filed for the personal protection order once morest her husband on June 24, writing, “He has mental health issues and recently purchased a gun and that concerns me,” WPBM reported, citing court documents. .
“He keeps saying he’s going to blow his brains out and I don’t want my safety or my son’s safety to be in danger.”
But that offer was rejected by a judge who wrote that she might seek a restraining order in divorce court, the newspaper reported.
“Insufficient evidence of proof of immediate and irreparable injury, loss or damage. Petitioner may apply for a restraining order in the event of a divorce,” the judge wrote, according to WPBM.
Tirany Savage might have asked for a hearing because she was denied, but it’s unclear whether she made that request, according to WPBM, citing court documents.
Three days before her violent death, she filed for divorce, WPBM reported.
The judge, who NBC News says is Troy Daniel, did not return a request for comment when the outlet reached out to his election campaign Wednesday night.
