Unfortunately, all of this popularity doesn’t mean AirPods aren’t flawless. Some users have noticed that only one of them worked or one stopped working completely. But why does this happen? Here are some reasons to help you understand the problem and some ways you can fix it.
Why is only one AirPod working?

Worse, the problem isn’t always that simple. Sometimes AirPods work and users can’t figure out exactly why they’re not working properly. Restarting your device, messing around with settings, and unpairing your AirPods are all simple options, but not the quick fix you always think of. Here are some other ways you can solve this problem.

According to Apple Support, you can check if the charging case is fully charged. Then put both AirPods in the case for 30 seconds. When opening the device once more, make sure the device is close to the case to pair it once more.
Then check your device to make sure both AirPods are charging. If so, try playing with something to see if both work. If not, Apple says you need to restart and contact Apple Support.
Sometimes it’s not that the AirPods aren’t working, it’s that the volume is so low that you can’t hear anything. If you suspect this is true, or if the volume is uneven, Apple suggests cleaning it with this guide. In the same vein, your phone’s volume balance can only be shifted to one side, which can be modified in your phone’s settings.

All of the above options may work if you make sure both AirPods are in sync. If not, make sure both your headphones and the device using them are up to date. However, as a last resort, you may need to visit the Genius Bar in the Apple Store to determine the root cause of the problem.
