The Senegalese prison administration announced the escape from prison on Monday of Pape Mamadou Seck, arrested following the banned march of the opposition coalition Yewwi Askan wi (June 17) and accused of attempting to destabilize the country.

According to the press release from the prison administration, the prisoner escaped from the special ward of the LeDantec hospital in Dakar where he was transferred on July 1 for treatment of a severe pathology.

He is thus the subject of wanted and arrested notices.

Inspector of taxes and domain and leader of the Pastef party, Seck and his 11 co-defendants had been placed under a warrant of committal on June 29 and sent to the Reubeuss remand center.
