Sydney: The South African cricket team has withdrawn from next year’s Australian series. With this, South Africa’s chances of directly qualifying for next year’s ODI World Cup have also been dimmed.
The draw is that the series will be decided at the same time as the domestic Twenty20 Franchise League. After the Test series, the series was scheduled from January 12 to 17. South Africa unsuccessfully lobbied for the date to be changed, arguing that it would make it difficult to schedule the Australian series in the same period.
After the attempt to change the series failed, the South African Cricket Board announced that there was no other option but to withdraw. This has also been confirmed by the Australian Cricket Board.
