Movistar publishes new announcement to promote the 4G network

Caracas.- In order to promote the 4G network, Movistar announced that it will stop selling SIM cards for 2G lines. The decision began to be executed from the first of July.

“This network is in a marked cycle of obsolescence, which generates serious difficulties for access to inventory, in addition to the costs associated with the purchase of spare parts and replacement of equipment,” Movistar said in a statement released this Monday morning.

This announcement comes following Twitter users reported that Digitel had turned off the 2G and 3G signal to develop 4G LTE. They insisted that Conatel do something regarding it, since the most affected people are those with low incomes who cannot buy a more advanced phone.

Likewise, Digitel still has not issued a statement.

Everything seems to indicate that the telephone companies are making drastic decisions.

DIGITEL

Through social networks, users of the telecommunications company, Digitel, have indicated that they have been left without a signal. Below is the reason for the problem.

Journalists confirmed that the company turned off the 2G signal and especially affected people located in foreign areas.

The annoyance of its users is that the company has not issued any statement in this regard. The user @ernestormj explained that Digitel turned off the 2G and 3G signals to strengthen the 4G LTE signal.

Other people recalled that the company, a telecommunications company since last year, is inviting its customers to switch to the 4G network for free at customer service centers.

Without a doubt, the apparent measure has not pleased the affiliates of the company. However, a statement is expected from Digitel.

Those affected ask the state regulator Conatel to do something regarding it. Well, the decision harms low-income people who do not have the money to buy a smart device.
