Pat Connaughton extends to the Bucks for 3 years and 28.5 million

A valuable player in the Bucks rotation, Pat Connaughton has extended his contract with the Wisconsin franchise. The swingman is now tied to Milwaukee until 2026.

His debut with the Bucks had been more discreet but Pat Connaughton has now made his mark on the side of the Fiserv Forum. An important player in the second unit and sometimes called upon to join the incumbents, Pat’ is part of the executives of Mike Budenholzer’s group. Champion in 2021 with these same Bucks, the native of Arlington did what he does best: defend, put his shots from afar, without forgetting a good dose of hustle at each of his appearances on the ground. With 9.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 46% shooting and just under 40% from the parking lot, he just released his best statistical season in his career. and he was among the best substitutes this season in the NBA. Inevitably, these fine performances might have earned him some covetousness at the Free Agency, but the player had decided not to test the market, preferring to activate his player option at 5.7 million dollars. A first good news for the leaders of Milwaukee but they preferred to lock their player for the duration by offering him an extension this summer. Selon Adrian Wojnarowski d ‘ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athleticthe two parties have agreed on a three-year deal and an amount ranging between 28.5 and 30 million dollars (insiders disagree). Note that the 2025-26 season is a player option.

With a year already present on his previous contract and three more years, Connaughton is therefore linked to Milwaukee until 2026 for an amount of 34 million dollars (if we take the amount of Woj ‘). Quietly, the Bucks are making their way into this Free Agency and the key word is stability. The group has proven itself and injuries were the major cause of the team’s ills last season, with the injury of Khris Middleton at the start of the Playoffs in particular. With the extension of Connaughton, without forgetting that of Bobby Portis at the start of Free Agency, Milwaukee has just armored two important players in the group. Hoping that he is spared from injury and that he finds his best level, the re-signature of Serge Ibaka is also a nice bet at a lower cost. Unsurprisingly, we should still find Milwaukee among the favorites next year.

Pat Connaughton did the job once more this year with the Bucks and it deserved a little extension on the contract. 3 more years for Mike Budenholzer’s bench soldier, Milwaukee secures one more of its strong men.
