Whether you’ve taken the leap from VR with the accessible and compelling Oculus Quest 2cracked for the solid but expensive Valve Index, or that you got your hands on a PS VRit does not matter: if you are here, it is because you are looking for the best jeux of the moment in virtual reality to make the most of this unique and increasingly accessible video game experience.
A few pearls in an ocean of middle titles
Before embarking on this selection, a few important details. First of all, it is neither exhaustive nor classified. Then, all the games presented here unfortunately do not work on all platforms. We have tried to avoid exclusives as much as possible, but some games are still too essential to be left out.
Half-Life : Alyx
Reason for buying a helmet for probably half of the players (the other half being motivated by the second game of this selection…), Half-Life : Alyx deserves all the praise given to it since 2020. The most successful experience today in VR, both in its mechanics and in its atmosphere or even its solid lifespan, Valve’s FPS almost compensates for the absence of Half- Life 3 as the game centered on Alyx is addictive and exhilarating.
Available on Steam (compatible with Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift) at 49.99 euros.
Beat Saber
Probably the most popular VR title online, Beat Saber is, it must be said, an excellent rhythm game. Solo or once morest other players, it’s up to you to cut cubes in time with the music and as it should with lightsabers. New content is regularly offered for the title which is likely to make you sweat. If you have the choice, prefer the Steam version, compatible with mods, and which notably allows you to import hundreds of music created by the community.
Available on Steam (compatible with Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift), PlayStation Store and Oculus Store at 29.99 euros.
Ragnarock
Another solid and exhilarating rhythm game, Ragnarock puts you in the shoes of a viking who has to beat rhythmically on drums to move his drakkar on a background of metal music. Once once more the PC version allows you to import hundreds of additional tracks, while free and paid content is regularly added by the Wanadev teams. On a purely personal basis, I came to Quest 2 to Beat SaberI stayed there for Ragnarock.
Available on Steam (compatible with Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift) and Oculus Store at 24.99 euros. A PS VR version is on the way.
Moss
What enchantment that Moss. And its sequel, Moss: Free II, which you can do right away. In the shoes of the Reader, the player is responsible for guiding the adorable mouse Moss in a fantasy world made up of puzzles and accessible combat. Moments of wonder and delicious artistic direction are at the rendezvous of one of the most pleasant experiences in VR to date.
Available on Steam (compatible with Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift), Oculus Store and PlayStation Store (or physically on PS4) at 24.99 or 29.99 euros.
Superhot VR
Warning, awesome game. Already brilliant in its classic version, Superhot VR is even stronger in virtual reality. Beneath its air of yet another shooter, the title hides two major arguments: its beautiful artistic direction and above all its central twist. Time only advances (and therefore enemies and bullets move) when the player moves. It will therefore be necessary to be attentive, precise and clever to hope to see the end of it.
Disponible sur Steam (compatible Valve Index, HTC Vive et Oculus Rift), Oculus Store et PlayStation Store (or in physics on PS4) at 22.99 or 24.99 euros.
Lone Echo
Exclusive to Meta helmets, Lone Echo has since enjoyed an equally acclaimed sequel. In space, in weightlessness, you embody an AI robot in charge of assisting an astronaut in a space station plagued by strange troubles. The adventure is rich in memorable moments, and is very pleasant to browse thanks in particular to its well thought out controls, its solid atmosphere and its ideal lifespan.
Available on Oculus Store at 19.99 euros.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Initially offered in non-VR, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is even more fun in virtual reality. This game, which is played only in local asymmetrical cooperation, asks one of the players to try to defuse bombs by following the instructions of the other participants who must consult a manual. Communication and efficiency are required to move forward.
Available on Steam (Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift compatible), Oculus Store, consoles and even mobile at many prices.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
Want horror? Resident Evil 7 Biohazard holds out his arms to you. Unlike its sequel, this installment is officially VR compatible and we can’t be held responsible for any material that ends up spooked into your screen.
Available on Steam and PlayStation Store (and in physics on PS4) at 19.99 euros.
Astro Bot : Rescue Mission
Exclusive to PS VR, Astro Bot : Rescue Mission is eminently friendly. With its clever use of virtual reality and perspectives, the title shines with its cute universe and its varied mechanics. We will simply regret a very high price in dematerialized for a slightly short lifespan.
Available on PlayStation Store (and in physics on PS4) at 39.99 euros.
Pistol Whip
Let’s finish with one last edgy rhythm game. In Pistol Whip, hard not to take yourself for John Wick. On a rail and in rhythm with the music, you will have to eliminate your targets quickly using one or more pistols so as not to be shot down. As addictive as it is grueling, the game is simply enjoyable.
Available on Steam (Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift compatible) and Oculus Store at 24.99 and 29.99 euros.
