Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, instructed the Public Transport Authority in Cairo and Alexandria that the increase in passenger tariffs should be commensurate with the increase in fuel prices applied this morning.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Local Development’s follow-up to the decision of the automatic pricing committee for the prices of petroleum products at the Ministry of Petroleum and the movement of prices for some products as of today, Wednesday.
The Minister of Local Development stressed that the increase in the ticket price will not exceed 50 piasters over the old prices.
The Minister of Local Development also called for the intensification of joint campaigns by the concerned agencies, parking and traffic departments, and supply directorates on service stations and regional and internal parking lots within each governorate to ensure drivers’ commitment to the new tariff and not to exploit citizens, provided that the increase in ride tariff prices is commensurate with the increase in petroleum products.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy said that the Operations Room and Crisis Management in the Ministry will follow up continuously throughout the day with the operations rooms in the governorates, and “Sharawi” called on citizens to communicate with emergency numbers, hotlines, operating rooms, crisis management announced in the governorates, and the “Your Voice is Heard” initiative in the Ministry to submit any complaint on the website.
