Vegas Summer League hit 50% download tonight with seven new games. Send the recap of an evening once once more… not like the others, but isn’t that also why we continue to set alarm clocks in July?
The results of the night:
Raptors – Bulls : a ten-point victory for the Bulls which does not really reflect the physiognomy of the match, yes we did this whole purge. Dalano Banton started the game like a regular MVP with big threes all over the place (with the board) but quickly Carlik Jones, Marko Simonovic and the – decidedly – very sexy Dalen Terry took the measure of the meeting. Thirty pawns away was a time, difficult not to pionner but passion wins, as always.
Bonus track: Carlik Jones who does not miss a shot of the match, which makes him the “best player in the history of July 13, 2022”.
Grizzlies – Nets : the card of the evening. Santi Aldama is the new Dirk Nowitzki, Jake LaRavia has nothing to envy to Manu Ginobili and Ziaire Williams can aim for Ja Morant’s starting spot while Xavier Tillman looks – even – older with short hair. David Roddy also confirmed the Grizzous’ draft flair once once more and Kenny Lofton Jr. put in some buckets, while for the Nets Cam Thomas continues to live his passion, namely to score 30 points every day of July. We glimpsed the dynamite in the calves of Yves Pons, level a vran above Day’Ron Sharpe and David Duke Jr., but that’s regarding it for the Nets.
Bonus track: a guy called Ronaldo who ignited the last three minutes of the match with a handle of pig and some delicious caviars.
Heat – Hawks : victory of the Hawks and if you want a clue on this match we advise you to watch the last possession of the Heat, no spoiler. Chris Clemons and Chaundee Brown showed they were probably real NBA players, Tyrese Martin practically made the game single-handedly in the second half. Joel Ayayi came close to a double-double with 9 points and 8 rebounds and on the Heat side we especially noted that Javonte Smart’s forehead was as disproportionate as his shot selection, and that if Garrett wore No. 6 it would be a cigarette.
Bonus track: Jalen Adaway accidentally scored a basket. And we don’t know who that person is either.
Pacers – Pistons : one of the disappointments of the night since the Pistons roster looked nothing like that of the start of the competition, in particular due to the resting of Saben Lee, Isaiah Livers, Killian Hayes, Isaiah Stewart and especially Jaden Ivey, revelation of this start of Summer League in Detroit but slightly affected therefore logically preserved by its frankness. In the end Jalen Duren and his adult body had to provide a bit of leadership, Jules Bernard recalled that he was not a street in Paris but a basketball player and the Boeheim brothers also made the mif proud… even if it is ultimately the Pacers who will have dominated this game throughout despite a return to grace from Detroit once led by 25 pawns. Bennedict Mathurin was very dominant (20/5/3/3), the sophomore energizer duo Isaiah Jackson / Terry Taylor assured and Aaron Nesmith put in some buckets with his new jersey. Here, here the voice, that’s all, for the moment.
Bonus track: we said to ourselves overnight that this young Pacers team had a good head for darling 2023, before saying to ourselves that it should finally turn around 35 wins max. Yeah, the Summer League is also sunburn in the middle of the night.
Warriors – Celtics : a very exciting game although the Celtics have never – or very rarely – seemed to be in trouble with the score. Brodric Thomas and Juhann Begarin in particular had sent a very big first quarter, Mfiondu Kabengele and Justin Jackson were not all bad either, and in the second half it took the awakening of the two leaders Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga to offer us a semblance of suspense. In the end the victory is rather pépouez for the C’s, Juju Begarin was knocked over by Quindarry Wheaterspoon but he drops his second consecutive big game with 21 pawns and a big activity. Also note the solid game in defense but shy in attack of James Wiseman, while Mac McClung is increasingly revealed as a kind of cross between Grayson Allen, JR Smith and Alex Caruso.
Bonus track: 12 points at 5/9 and 8 rebounds in two big passages in particular… have we already told you regarding our crush for Gui Santos?
Lakers – Clippers : a pretty tight game between the two Los Angeles franchises. With Moussa Diabaté in the 5, the Clippers led from the first quarter and almost the entire match, Jay Scrubb and Brandon Boston Jr. held the team in scoring (15 pts each) but they cracked in QT4 once morest to Mason Jones (15 pts), J’avance McCoy (14) and Sacha Killeya-Jones who deserves mention as he shares his first name with the most famous Pokemon trainer. Note the new fine outing – under the eyes of Papou, of Scotty Pippen Jr. with 8 points and 4 assists all in delicacy.
Bonus track: the Lakers have once more left Jay Huff aside, perhaps because the Californian franchise prefers to keep Bastien’s look-alike from TrashTalk warm in order to have him join the major five in place of Anthony Davis.
Suns – Mavericks : a show of strength from the Suns, carried by perennial Summer League MVP Louis King (10/14/1/3) and Frenchman Olivier Sarr (10/12/2/2). For the Mavs, know that Jalen Lecque is pronounced Jalen “Le Q”, but also know that the Hardy / Harding duo was… bold and assured with 31 cumulative points. But without a minimum of defense it’s complicated, especially when the star rookie from Dallas struggles to exceed – once once more – 30% in shooting. Opposite the Suns pressed on the collective with five players at 10 points or more, exactly what they should have done not to lose in the conference semi-finals last May.
Bonus track : Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is not a draw of numbers and letters but a beautiful Australian baby of Sudanese origin.
