The Association of the heritage of the mill organized, this Sunday, a country meal on the site of renovation of the mill.
“After having defined the role of each the day before, it is from 7:30 a.m. that we welcome the caterer, Benoît Larrieu, to the Moulin-à-Vent site”, specifies Didier Dal Soglio, vice-president.
The day is launched, securing the site, signposting the car park, setting up tables and benches, preparing meals, organizing reception and the refreshment bar.
The temperature is already 25° when the first visitors arrive. The atmosphere is good-natured. The aperitif installed in the shade, at the foot of the mill, arouses the curiosity of people who, for some, will not hesitate to equip themselves with apparatus and will climb to the first floor of the scaffolding to see the good progress of the Renovation work started two years ago. A great experience!
The last reservations arrive, little by little, everyone settles under the capitals, occupying the space of the public garden adjoining the mill.
We talk a lot regarding the climate, of course, but also regarding the difficulties for volunteers to recover materials. “The volunteers came to get more than 2 tons of materials from my house, says Yvette, they really need help because they haven’t finished their work yet.”
“Others donated wood, tiles and bricks, scrap metal, many were recovered from the Montech paper mill site, all these materials are then worked on by volunteers”, says President Francis Soureil. But today, the spirit is festive. In the shade and refreshed by a gentle breeze, guests appreciate the rural menu as much as the site, which is calm and green.
At the end of the followingnoon, the volunteers were satisfied with the progress of this first festive event in this place steeped in history.
