Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged young people across the Taiwan Strait to jointly strive to achieve the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Xi made the remarks in a letter in response to young people from Taiwan attending the Straits Youth Forum held from Monday to Tuesday in Xiamen, China’s Fujian Province.
In his letter, Xi expressed his joy that Taiwan’s youth have found the mainland a place to realize their dreams, witnessed the rapid development and changes of the motherland, and experienced the warm feelings between compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, who are all from the same family.
“We will, as always, create favorable conditions for young people across the Taiwan Strait to learn from each other, and provide more convenience for young people in Taiwan to study, work, set up businesses. and live on the mainland,” Xi said in the letter.
He expressed the hope that these young people in Taiwan will share their experiences and feelings regarding the mainland with their peers in Taiwan, so that Taiwanese youth will understand the mainland and associate with the youth of the mainland to work tirelessly for national rejuvenation.
Founded in 2003, the Strait Youth Forum provides an important platform for youth exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. Fifty young people from Taiwan invited to the forum this year wrote a letter to Xi in which they affirmed their firm will to contribute to national rejuvenation and national reunification.
