After an extensive revision for 2022, Ducati is content with an update of the electronics for 2023. This can also be retrofitted to the 2022 model.
To improve driving stability, precision and directional stability when braking and cornering, the Panigale V4 2023 receives the new Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO 2 software. This means that it is now possible to select one of the three stages for each gear and thus to set the engine brake separately for each gear.
The new strategy was developed to optimize the intensity of the engine braking depending on the ground contact of the rear wheel. In the first phase of the braking process, when the rear wheel is only lightly loaded, the EBC EVO 2 provides less engine braking. This increases as you approach the center of the curve. The greatest engine braking effect is provided at the moment when it contributes the most to slowing down the motorcycle and a tighter line.
Thanks to this strategy, which ensures a more balanced engine braking intervention in every driving phase, the system reduces rear wheel locking in the hard braking zones, thus improving driving stability and cornering precision
Likewise, the 2023 Panigale V4 receives a new Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) strategy that improves shifting at different throttle positions. There are different strategies for part throttle and full throttle.
When shifting at part throttle, where the system previously cut off ignition, the effect is now achieved by retarding ignition timing, making on-road shifts smoother thanks to the absence of engine shutdown. When shifting gears with the throttle valve fully open, a driving situation typical of the racetrack, the system continues to rely on ignition interruption.
In addition to these changes, there is a new fan strategy that allows better management of operating temperatures and greater thermal comfort for the driver, even at street speeds. This latest update also reduces typical heat build-up following track use.
The updates for the 2023 model year are complemented by improvements to Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and the Ride by Wire system. The former has been further developed to more precisely control the action of traction control as a function of lean angle, while the latter improves the link between the torque requested by the driver and the torque actually delivered.
These updates, available for all Panigale V4, V4 S and V4 SP2 2023 models, will also be available for all Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 SP2 2022 owners through a simple intervention that will take place at the Ducati from the end of July 2022 service can be performed.
