Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in humans, and it occurs when the cells of the human male prostate, a small gland that produces semen that nourishes and transports sperm, turn into cancer cells, according to the timesofindia website.
There are different types: adenocarcinoma of the prostate, transitional cell carcinoma of the prostate, squamous cell carcinoma of the prostate, and small cell carcinoma of the prostate.
What are the early signs?
There are a few early signs that actually give a hint of the presence of cancerous cells, and they are:
Change in the pattern of urination:
During the onset of the disease, the individual may experience a change in the pattern of urination, and the man has the urge to urinate frequently, especially at night, which leads to disruption of the person’s sleep pattern.
Pain in the pelvic area:
Many people tolerate the pain until it begins to weaken them in the performance of their daily tasks, even this appears in cases of people with prostate cancer, due to the effect of cancer cells, the patient feels pain in the hips and pelvis area.
Pain while urinating:
One suffers from painful urination and sometimes this urination is difficult to pass due to the inability of the individual to empty the bladder properly.
When should you definitely see a doctor?
Aside from the above signs, when you see the following signs, you should make an appointment with your doctor:
blood in urine or semen
Sudden onset of erectile dysfunction
Constant pelvic pain
Constant urination problem
Burning feeling while urinating

Difficulty starting urination
Here’s why you should have regular medical exams:
Doctors have long advised annual medical exams following a certain age or when a person has certain health complications.
Regular medical examinations can detect the disease at an early stage.
Early signs are often overlooked, especially in a serious illness such as cancer. In such cases, tests can detect the onset of the disease and track its progression.
