US President Joe Biden has been emphasizing stricter gun regulations, including a ban on the sale of assault rifles.
They are calling for not only gun purchases, but laws to ensure that guns are stored safely.

An event was held at the White House to commemorate the passage of the gun safety law into the US Congress.
President Biden has repeatedly reiterated that gun accidents are the number one cause of death for children in the United States, more often than car accidents and cancer.
[조 바이든 / 미국 대통령 : 오늘 이 법은 우리가 추구하는 국가를 위해 필요한 일입니다. 가장 근본적인 문제, 우리의 아이들과 사랑하는 사람들의 생명에 관한 것입니다.]
Earlier, Congress passed a gun safety law that would tighten background checks for gun buyers.
However, the sale of assault rifles capable of burst fire and the prohibition on the sale of large-capacity magazines have been omitted, causing disappointment.
The perpetrators of recent mass shootings in Illinois and New York have consistently used assault rifles such as the AR-15 as a tool.
“When the sale of assault rifles was banned from 1994 to 2004, mass shootings fell, but when the law expired and sales of those weapons resumed, shootings tripled,” Biden lamented.
“We will not stop until we stop selling assault rifles,” he said.
US media analyzes that President Biden is focusing on gun control issues ahead of the midterm elections and re-election in a situation where approval ratings have plummeted in the wake of recent high inflation and other factors.
But the 79-year-old oldest president in U.S. history, Biden, is overwhelmingly negative among Democrats over his reelection challenge, realizing the sharp drop in approval ratings.
In a poll conducted by the New York Times and Siena University, the leading American daily, 64% of Democratic supporters said they should run for a different candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
