US tourist falls into Mount Vesuvius
According to media reports, an American fell into the Italian volcano Vesuvius following taking a selfie. He was hardly injured, but was reported.
This tourist was extremely lucky: an American (23) fell into the crater of Vesuvius on Saturday, high above Naples (I). Previously, he apparently wanted to take a selfie on the 1,281-meter-high mountain, lost his cell phone, climbed following it, stumbled and flew a few meters down, he quotes «Guardian» local media.
Mountain guides were there immediately and abseiled down to the scene of the accident to help the American. In the end he “only” had to be treated for cuts and a few bruises.
Reported for forbidden route
However, the 23-year-old and his three family members were reported. According to reports, the police informed them that they had illegally entered public premises. The group went to the volcano before the accident without a ticket and took a forbidden route. (of)
