Al-Manar Sports website » Djokovic is seventh and Jaber is in fifth place

Serbian Novak Djokovic lost four places in the ATP world rankings, which was published on Monday, despite winning his seventh Wimbledon title on Sunday and his twenty-first in the “Grand Slam”, while Tunisian Anas Jabeur, the runner-up for women, slipped, to fifth place.

The points of the ancient English championship were not calculated in the new classification by a decision of the League, in response to Wimbledon’s ban on the participation of Russian players and players in the tournament, following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Accordingly, Russian Daniil Medvedev retained the top spot. Djokovic lost 2,000 points from his victory last year in the final once morest Italian Matteo Berrettini.

The main beneficiary of the lack of points distributed in Wimbledon this year is Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who withdrew from the semi-finals due to a rupture of the abdominal muscles, and despite that, he rose to third place.

The Polish Hubert Hurkacz is also out of the top ten list, and he was replaced by the Italian Yannick Sener.

Among the women, Poland’s Iga Šviontik maintained the lead, followed by Estonian Anett Kontaveit, Greece’s Maria Skari and Spain’s Paula Padusa, while Jaber finished fifth, dropping three places, following she recently ranked as the first Arab and African player, and lost the Wimbledon final to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
