Fabrice CROUSEevokes in a few words this enchanted journey that awaits you this summer in the SOUTHERN VOSGES:

“Follow the voice of Rameau’s favorite high-counter, sing in a caravan in an enchanted garden, live the amorous passions of Adam and Eve, marvel at Bach’s encounter with Vivaldi’s music, dive into the heart of the mystery of ‘a secular organ, look in a mirror between past and present with Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe and Philippe Hersant, enter the depths of humanity with the songs of birds, discover the astonishing atmosphere of the world before Bach, marvel at the southern musicality of the dazzling Venetian Sagittarius, explore all the emotions of an oratorio… A marvelous theater of Baroque sensibilities open to everyone’s dreams. This suggests one of this summer’s most promising paths.

3 WEEKENDS PROGRAM

ACT 1

La Fenice, from the night of time, Vesontius.

Friday July 15 in Belfort 9 p.m., Sainte-Odile church,
La Fenice, The Venetian Sagittarius

Celebration of 350 years of the death of Heinrich SCHÜTZ (1585 – 1672) – The LaFenice ensemble reveals the southern verve and Venetian colorism of the “musician of the Word”: they were instilled in him during his youth in the city of the Doges, spent with his spiritual father Giovanni Gabrieli, who gave him his ring of ‘or leaving this world

Saturday July 16, in Luxeuil-les-Bains at 9 p.m., Basilica of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, a nocte temporis, Jéliote, high-counter of Rameau

After Dumesny, high-counter by Lully, a nocte temporis is interested in the great high-counter of history, Stone of Jeliote du Béarn (born in Lasseube) who was also a guitarist, cellist and composer. After a remarkable debut as “Next of Love” in the prologue to Hippolyte et Aricie, Jean-Philippe Rameau’s first opera (1733), Jéliote had to wait for the retirement of his predecessor, Tribou, to sing the leading roles: “Daphnis” in Daphnis et Alcimadure, opera in the Occitan language by Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville (sung in the author’s mother tongue in Narbonne); Abaris in the rehearsals of Les Boréades, Rameau’s last work ever premiered in the 18th century due to the composer’s death. Retired, Jéliote retired to the Pyrenees. On the program of this awaited concert: famous pages of Rameau, some airs in Occitan from Mondonville, extracts from Dauvergne, La Borde, Colin de Blamont, and an air from Zéilisca, an opera composed by the singer himself, embellished with instrumental pieces , overtures and dances, excerpts from operas created by Pierre de Jéliote.

Sunday July 17, in Faucogney 11 a.m., Saint-Martin chapel,
Vesontio, Rome October 1, 1639…

In 1639, the famous French violist Andre Maugars writes his impressions on the music then performed in the different churches of Rome… His enthusiasm defends “the great freedom and exuberance of Italian musical practices, compared to the corseted French habits”. The testimony is unique and of an exceptional contribution: it evokes the disposition of the musicians in the churches and their number, the omnipresence of the accompanying organs, the importance of the violins, the exacerbated use of chromaticism, the genius of the “great Frescobaldi”, the possible presence of the claviorganum (also called organized harpsichord), a fanciful instrument, which also holds the star of his concert “by the truly incredible color that it will bring to it: Maugars also suggests between the lines that Frescobaldi played it…”

Sunday July 17, Corravillers 5 p.m., Saint-Jean Baptiste Church,
from the night of time, sing “Ich habe genug”

I have enough sets to music the poetry of the canticle of Simeon (backbone of the work): “I have had enough” is none other than the relief of old Simeon who, unable to die before having seen the Messiah, tells – the child Jesus in his arms – that he can finally go away in peace. The version produced by a nocte temporis is the one dedicated by Bach to his wife Anna Magdalena, for high voice and German flute. Also on the program: My soul praises and glorifies by Melchior Hoffman (- long attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach); Poor me, slave of sinsthe Cantor’s only cantata for tenor alone.
