Humiliated last season, the Lakers intend to move forward for this 2022-23 campaign which should make us forget the past setbacks. But obviously, the new image of losers purples and golds still stick to their skin. Even among some of the most respected players in history…
No need to make a big summary: almost everything has been said regarding the nightmarish season suffered by the Lakers. From Big Three set up to shake the league, Frank Vogel’s men have become the laughing stock of the championship, corrected by many teams, and holders of a pathetic record of 33 wins for 49 losses (11th place in the West) when the ordeal finally ended on the evening of the 82nd match.
This season, readily described by some Angelinos fans as the most difficult to live in the history of the franchise, has left its mark. Russell Westbrook is still there, once morest the wishes of everyone but himself, and the salary construction of the roster prevents the Lakers from being able to claim to strengthen themselves in order to be considered among the big names in the West.
A legend cracks and sends a stray ball to the Lakers
And LeBron James and company approach the coming season with a spirit of revenge, and the hope of doing much better than last year, the Lakers’ brand image has undeniably taken the lead in the wing. Feared by the entire league following the 2020 title, Anthony Davis’ teammates have developed a habit of being teased. The latest? It comes from none other than Isiah Thomas, who didn’t mince words in an incendiary punchline:
Isiah Thomas: “There’s no easy games in the Western Conference… If you’re looking at an easy game, maybe the Lakers.”

Isiah Thomas: “There are no easy games in the Western Conference. Finally, if you are looking for an easy game, maybe the Lakers”.
Ordinarily, the Pistons legend is rather very complimentary towards LeBron, and focuses his venom on Michael Jordan and the Bulls. However, Zeke might not resist the urge to send a scud to his former rivals, and it is clear that the subject is violent. However, is it undeserved? We remember that last year, the Lakers suffered many blowoutssometimes even once morest teams far from being posh.
Without mind and without desire, the Angelinos had become real prey, and, indeed, regular easy evenings for the opponents. An anomaly when the roster includes players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and it is now urgent to reverse the trend in the fall, starting off on the right foot.
Months pass, but the mockery and lack of respect for the Lakers remain. It is now up to them to use these humiliations as additional motivation. Because one thing is certain: a second pitiful season in a row will not be tolerated by anyone in the city of angels.
