India x World XI; Government to ‘Celebrate Independence’ Cricket Match – Cricket Match

New Delhi ∙ As part of the country’s 75th anniversary of independence, the central government has sought the possibility of a cricket match between the Indian team and the World XI. National media reported that the central government has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) whether India-World XI match can be organized. The move is to organize the match on August 22. It is reported that the central government is in talks with the BCCI to include important Indian and foreign players in the competition.

With only one and a half months left for the match to be held as per the directives of the central government, the BCCI is examining the feasibility of making international players available for such a match. It has been decided to organize the match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The central government has proposed a match between India and the World XI on August 22. At least 13-14 international players from different teams are required to field the World XI. It is being checked whether so many players can be organized from different teams’ – NDTV reported quoting BCCI sources.

Meanwhile, the domestic cricket season will be active in England when the match is proposed to be held. Moreover, the Caribbean Premier League will also start. The BCCI is also looking into the possibility of paying players.

The annual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is being held in Birmingham, England from July 22 to 26. During this meeting, the decision is made to reach the players by talking to the representatives of various cricket boards. On the other hand, it is estimated that there will be no difficulty in getting the Indian players to the match.

India’s three-match ODI series once morest Zimbabwe ends on August 20. As the players playing in this series will return only on August 22, it is estimated that their services will not be available. With players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant not going to Zimbabwe, it will not be difficult to get them for the match. They have to play next in the Asia Cup which starts on August 27 in Sri Lanka.
