Press reports revealed that Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, received a large financial reward from the “Red Devils” before making his decision to leave the English club.
The British newspaper, “The Sun”, said that Ronaldo received a “financial reward of a six-figure sum”, days before he informed the Manchester United management of his desire to leave the team.
The newspaper quoted a source it described as an insider in United as saying: “Ronaldo’s announcement of his departure following the award may not be just a coincidence.”
And it was reported last week that Ronaldo informed his team’s management of his desire to leave this summer, which United initially refused, especially since his contract is still valid.
But it seems that the English club officials finally acquiesced to the fait accompli and agreed to the departure of the “Don”, according to what Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade revealed.
Andrade said on his official Twitter account: “Manchester United have accepted the pressure (from Ronaldo) and are ready to sell.”
And he indicated that: “The team management wants regarding 15 million euros (or 13 million pounds) to open the door to negotiations with interested clubs.”
Ronaldo will look for a new team following suffering a “disastrous season” without titles with Manchester United, where he finished sixth in the English Premier League, which means he will not participate in the Champions League next season.
