With the interpretation of the title “Master of Puppets” played by Eddie in season 4 of the series Stranger Things, the group Metallica sees its song stand at the top of the worldwide streaming rankings like “Running up that Hill” by Kate Busch, a few weeks earlier.
Holy spotlight. Played by Eddie’s character in the Stranger Things series, Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” gave the “the” of season 4. Enough to make this song one of the most listened to at the beginning of July.
Thus, the members of the Metallica group were delighted with the use of their title. Indeed, the song isn’t just used as a background sound for a scene but (spoiler alert) is used by Eddie Munson’s character (Joseph Quinn) who plays the riff on the guitar in order to distract the bats guarding the landmark of Vecna, the big bad of the series.
Rock in the spotlight
For the group, the series has brought their most famous song back into fashion. Indeed, the song, which celebrated its 36th birthday the day following the release of the last two episodes of Stranger Things, had never been ranked in the American charts. It is now done.
On Twitter, the group wanted to thank the series and highlight an excerpt from the scene where Eddie plays their biggest title.
“Music as the partner for crucial scenes in film and television is becoming the main bridge between generations. SO WHAT! learns just how ‘Master of Puppets’ met up with Stranger Things to hurtle the track back into the global spotlight.” https://t.co/ggz4mDX0Go
