In this hotel, getting drunk contributes to your well-being

An American businesswoman who owns a hotel establishment in Mexico has decided to transform her resort…in order to offer a new cure to those who wish to drink alcohol in industrial quantities.

The resort features 103 beachfront suites, but most importantly a 25,000 square foot space dubbed the “morning following experience” pavilion.

Tourists are urged to consume plenty of alcohol the night before before taking part in the treatment inspired by Mayan traditions, according to Bloomberg

The next day, people are invited to participate in a ceremony where they cook a popular Mexican recipe, cochinita pibil.

According to resort owner Lisa Harper, preparing the meal the day following a “brush” would have many beneficial effects.

“The cooking process, using banana leaves, was seen as a way of communicating with the Earth by the Maya,” she says.

She adds that the bartender is considered by tourists to be a “doctor”, a sign that the experience is very far-fetched.

The alcoholic drink has something to disorient the participants, since it is of local inspiration. No vodka, no tequila. Only pulque, “the drink of the native gods”, with pineapple flavor.

After their drunken evening, the tourists are woken around 9 am by the hotel employees.

“We don’t wake them up too late. The employees guide them to the pavilion at all times to prevent them from falling,” adds the woman.

The guests must eat the meal duly prepared, and this, in communion with the others.

After tasting the food, the cocoa ceremony is on the schedule. The goal is to help restore harmony between the energies of individuals, according to information provided by Bloomberg.

The owner told Bloomberg that she always wants her guests to consume as much alcohol as possible.
