Even if the harmful effects of the Horne Foundry on the health of residents of the Notre-Dame district are well known, the new public health data do not reassure them.

“The latest information we had came to destabilize the idea we had of our neighborhood. We did not think it might be so damaging,” said Réal Beauchamp, municipal councilor for the Noranda district.
For the past few days, a study has confirmed that the risks of cancer are almost 30% higher for residents near Fodnerie Horne in addition to having a five-year shorter life expectancy.
“We are aware that people are wondering regarding things like: is it better to close the windows at night? Is it okay for me to go to the park with my children? I call on regional public health to set up a line to answer these questions to reassure the population.
