Michael Jackson: the star had narrowly avoided the attacks of September 11, 2001

The attacks of September 11, 2001 caused the death of thousands of victims. Among the latter might have been Michael Jackson. On the day of the tragedy, the famous singer, who died on June 25, 2009, had an appointment at the Wold Trade Center.

Almost 21 years ago, the United States was going through one of the darkest pages in its history. On September 11, 2001, four suicide bombings in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania killed 2,753 people. A traumatic memory also for the thousands of survivors, who will remain marked for life by the tragedy. Among them is Léa Salamé, who was present on the scene the day the World Trade Center was hit. “I was there, I was a student. (…) I was three blocks from the New York Center…”, she confided last September in the show We are live.

This day, the facilitator had trouble realizing what was happening: “You have all seen yourselves in front of your television screen the planes going into these towers and collapsing – except that when we were downstairs we didn’t understand anything we just thought there was a fire at the World Trade Center”. A sad episode that will mark her forever. And definitely, the companion of Raphaël Glucksmann is not the only one to have escaped the worst.

Michael Jackson was also traumatized by the attacks of September 11, 2021. And for good reason, this day, the pop star who died on June 25, 2009 had an appointment at the World Trade Center as affirmed by Jermaine, his older brother , in an interview with Access Hollywood in 2011. “My mother had been awake at talk with him until four in the morning, revealed the former member of the Jackson Five. Fortunately, Michael Jackson was so exhausted that he mightn’t wake up at dawn to honor his appointment. “He just slept; he missed all his interviews,” admitted Jermaine. A news that did not fail to reassure the whole family.
