The Russian market is fully provided with potatoes, including processed ones. The message of the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture regarding this was published on July 8 “Vedomosti».
The ministry’s statement came as a reaction to a message from the management of the Vkusno-i Tochka restaurant chain that some of them will not have french fries and rustic potatoes due to a poor harvest last year of the varieties the chain uses.
The Ministry of Agriculture stressed that now there can be no shortage on the market, since potatoes of a new crop are already on sale. “According to the Potato Union, there is currently no need to import french fries,” the ministry said.
The shortage of potatoes in the network “Vkusno – i dot” was previously reported in the press service of the company. Some restaurants of the network have suspended the sale of potato dishes until the fall – until the new harvest. For eight years, potatoes have been purchased from Russian suppliers, but the company said that the usual dishes on the menu will not be due to a poor harvest, and imports from markets that might replace local suppliers are impossible.
