Mental Health launches an Eid campaign to prevent drug abuse

For the third year in a row, the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment is holding “Eid Than Othera” activities, a campaign organized by the General Secretariat under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Population.

The campaign comes on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha, one of the occasions that is usually associated with the abuse of narcotics by many addiction patients.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of addiction and provide good conditions and a healthy environment for the recovering to spend and enjoy various occasions and holidays in an atmosphere of recovery, and to emphasize their ability to enjoy life without the need for drug abuse.

The authority explained that protection was provided for addiction patients during the Eid by extending the period of stay for patients who are detained in the internal departments of the Amana hospitals, and postponing their discharge until the end of the Eid days, as well as allowing the recovered to participate in campaign activities and spend the night of Eid inside the hospital to protect them.

“Eid than others” activities are held inside or outside the hospitals and centers of the General Secretariat, such as culture houses and sports clubs, and its activities include many sports, entertainment and artistic activities that show the talents of the recovered, in addition to talking regarding their treatment journey inside the hospitals and centers of the Secretariat.

The secretariat is also keen, when setting up the campaign, to celebrate the recovered who have completed their treatment in the 21 hospitals and centers affiliated with the secretariat in 15 Egyptian governorates.

In addition to honoring the recovery counselors working in the internal departments, given their important role in transferring their life experiences to patients during the period of treatment, through the period of their treatment in the hospitals and centers of the Secretariat.

It is noteworthy that “Eid of Others” is the third occasion held by the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment to prevent addiction this year, following the occasions of the “New Year’s Day” and “Eid Al-Fitr”.
