Al-Manar Sports.com » Ons Jaber qualifies for Wimbledon final

Tunisian Anas Jaber raised the morale of an entire continent following she became the first Arab and African to reach the singles final at Wimbledon, with a 6/2, 3/6, 6/1 victory over German Tatiana Maria.

The 34-year-old had to save 3 break points in the opening game, but she did not hold back long to lose her serve in the third and seventh games before Ons took the first set following the German hit a backhand away.

But Maria, ranked 103 in the world, refused to surrender in front of an opponent she considers “family” to break “Anas”, advance 3-1 in the second set and hold to tie the match following the third seed in the tournament hit a backhand into the net.

But the Tunisian finally managed to live up to expectations as the world number two, crushing her opponent in the third set and setting up a final date with 16th seed Simona Halep and 2019 champion or Kazakh-born Russian-born Elena Rybakina, ranked 17th.
