Agency Autostat share production data in the EAEU countries. In June, 27,128 cars were produced at automobile enterprises in total, which is 20% more than in May. Last month, factories in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan produced 11,062 cars (2% more than a month earlier). Almost identical production volumes for light commercial vehicles and trucks: 7598 (plus 45%) and 7560 (plus 29%) units, respectively. The remaining 908 vehicles are buses, the output of which increased by 41% in May. Unfortunately, experts do not provide dynamics relative to June 2021, but there is data for the first half of the year: since the beginning of the year, 385 thousand units of equipment have left the assembly line – this is 54% less than in the first six months of 2021.
Despite Toyota’s failure to maintain intriguethe Japanese continue to desperately stir up interest in the premiere of the model Crown next generation. A new teaser has been published – this time with the sidewall of the front of the car, which once once more confirms the authenticity of patent images from two weeks ago. According to preliminary information, Toyota Crown will move to the TNGA platform, which allows the use of hybrid and all-electric powertrains with both front-wheel drive and both axles. The official debut will take place on July 15.
Company Hyundai there are also big plans for July 15 – on this day, the Koreans will present a new model of the sports N-family. Just the other day, representatives of the brand shared image with the silhouette of a future sports car, and today the company gave one more clue: a photo of an electric car Hyundai Ioniq 6 with an impressive size wing. But, unfortunately, still without any technical details.
Australian division of the company Toyota is preparing an extreme Hilux pickup truck with the Apex prefix to change the version Rugged X. It is possible that we are talking regarding the serial embodiment of the Hilux Tonka show car (pictured above), which debuted back in 2017 – initially, the Hilux Rugged model was created with an eye on this prototype, but in the end a slightly more mundane version saw the light. The list of improvements to the future Apex modification will most likely include a reinforced suspension, a steel body kit with a bull bar at the front, flared wheel arches, a snorkel, LED spotlights and wheels with off-road tires, although the 2.8 turbodiesel will probably still be left in its original form. However, outside the Green Continent, such pickups are unlikely to appear.
Head of the company Lamborghini Stefan Winkelmann announced the refusal to use retro design in the development of future models. According to him, revived Countach (pictured above) was a “unique experiment”, but now the Italian firm will move on. Apparently, the company does not want to abuse nostalgia for its own classic cars – despite the fact that the Italians did not have problems with the demand for the new Countach (which was built on the platform of the flagship supercar Aventador), the reaction of the public was mixed largely due to formal connection with the original car. Curiously, years before Kuntas’ resurrection, Winkelmann had already announced the company’s lack of intentions to produce retro-designed Lamborghini during the debut of the 2006 Miura concept car.
Volkswagen spoke regarding the canceled sedan Phaeton second generation for the 20th anniversary of the original model. The alleged debut of the successor to the flagship of the German brand fell on the years of the famous dieselgate, which changed the vector of the company’s development towards electrification. The development of a new model on the MLB Evo platform was suspended almost at the final stage, when a pre-production prototype was already ready. The sedan was designed by Josef Kaban, who later moved to BMW. In Europe, the second-generation Phaeton was eventually cancelled, but debuted in China a couple of years following finishing work on the sedan. Volkswagen Phideonwhich took the place of the flagship of the local line.
Also today we talked regarding results of the first half of the year in the Russian market and the new Volkswagen Amarok pickup.
