Establishment in Angola of a new fish processing unit – Le Magazine du Manager

The Angolan government has set up a new fish processing unit called “Atlântico Foods Limitada”. It has an initial monthly production capacity of between 70 and 100 tonnes of fish and is also equipped with a cold store of 1,250 m2 for the preservation of its products.

For the Angolan government, this project “has contributed to the creation of some forty jobs” and is the 15th industrial unit that opens in the fish processing and processing sector in Angola. According to the World Bank, which relies on 2018 data, the country “produced more than 440,000 tonnes of fish per year”.

In August 2017, the Minister of Fisheries, Victória de Barros Neto, inaugurated two fish processing plants in the municipality of Tômbwa in the southwestern province of Namibe.

The first rehabilitated unit has two production lines with a daily capacity of 125,000 tons of canned fish. While the second, owned by the company Nova Vida, has 10 freezing tunnels, ensuring a processing capacity of 250 tons of fish per day.
