BJP has 25 ministers in Maharashtra cabinet; 13 for the Shinde camp and the rest for independents

Mumbai: An agreement has been reached regarding the ministerial posts in the Maharashtra Eknath Shinde cabinet. It is suggested that there may be 45 members in the cabinet. Out of this, 25 ministerial positions will go to BJP and 13 positions to Shiv Sena MLAs with Shinde. National media reported quoting top sources that the remaining seven ministerial positions will be given to independents.

It is reported that except for the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, the rest of the government will be new faces. At the same time, BJP’s move is to induct new faces into the ministerial posts with the aim of the next assembly elections. There will be a final announcement on the ministerial positions following the Supreme Court verdict on July 11 regarding the disqualification of Shiv Sena MLAs.

The Mahavikas Aghadi government fell as a result of a rebellion by a group of Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde. Later BJP and Eknath Shinde camp formed a new government. Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister and BJP as Deputy Chief Minister. Leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also sworn in on June 30.
