Nadal overcame injury to beat Frieze to advance to Wimbledon quarter-finals

(AFP, London, 6th) Spain’s Rafael Nadal overcame an injury in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon today, beating American tennis player Taylor Fritz to advance to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the 8th time in his career .

Agence France-Presse reported that Nadal lost the first set today, and then called a timeout in the second round due to injury, but he then recovered the decline and finally won 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6. (10-4) beat Frieze in a match that lasted 4 hours and 21 minutes.

Nadal, who has won 22 Grand Slam titles so far, will next face Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios for a place in the final.

Nadal, who has won the Australian Open and the French Open successively this year, will challenge to become the first men’s singles player to sweep four Grand Slam Gold Cups in the same year since Australian legend Rod Laver in 1969.
