Spitfire Audio has released LABS Tape Piano, the latest sound library in the LABS series.
LABS’s newest sound library in this series is Tape Piano, a modern upright piano sound processed with a classic tape machine.
We all know that LABS instruments are often quite cinematic, and the Tape Piano is no exception, but this lo-fi piano will sound great in anything from soundtracks to pop and hip-hop (etc.).
Unique to Tape Piano is its tape loop, echo and tape machine.
As you can hear from the demo video, moving the change slider can take the tone from warm and choppy to gritty and unpredictable (and in between). Although the Tape Piano uses the sound of a modern upright piano, its lo-fi features bring some of the enchanting feel of playing an old piano.
Old pianos that look, sound, and feel weird are sometimes the most enjoyable because of their unpredictable nature. The sound isn’t exactly consistent; no two keys are the same, you don’t have full control, but it sounds great.
LABS instruments are available in the free Spitfire Audio plug-in in AU, VST2, VST3 and AAX formats for macOS (supports 10.13 – 11 M1) and Windows (7, 8 or 10).
