Forspoken definitely wants to take its time. After having already been postponed for the first time, Square-Enix’s supercharged action game has just announced that it will finally not be released this year. Why exactly, however, is another story.
See you next year
Few months ago, Forspoken was planned for May 2022 before being postponed for a completely legitimate reason: the developers wanted more time for the polishing phase, which simply consists of tweaking the experience and removing the most bugs and other problems from it. ‘balancing. The new release date was then set for October.
And if there were no clues to predict it, the Japanese publisher has just announced a brand new delay: Forspoken ultimately won’t be released until next year with an expected arrival on January 24, 2023. On PC and PlayStation 5, always.
A mysterious reason
In contrast, the fog resides around the reason for the postponement. The Japanese firm did release a press release, but did not explain precisely why and how.
Following discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move Forspoken’s launch date to January 24, 2023. All elements of the game are now complete and development is in its final polishing phase.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience throughout this journey. Your enthusiasm for the game inspires us every day and we look forward to sharing more information regarding Forspoken with you later this summer!
Forspoken did it need additional months to polish, or did Square-Enix decide to dodge the many year-end hits with a later release? Anyway, we will have news of the game later this season, so in August or September (or why not this month of July).
