This Tuesday night it was announced that flight AM 404 of Aeromexico that covered the route from Mexico City to New York was struck by lightning; however, this situation did not cause any emergency.
The airline confirmed that MILLENNIUM that aircraft landed safely at Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
Aeroméxico indicated that once the AICM was reached, the passengers were put on another plane to cover the route to New York, without none of them were at risk, “only the annoyance for the delay”.
It was decided to change planes to avoid further delays on the flight to that city in the United States.
Company spokesmen assured that it is common for planes to be struck by lightning more so in the rainy season, hurricanes and storms and that, although some cause damage to the aircraft, it is very rare that it becomes an alert and escalates.
For its part, the AICM explained through its Twitter account that the plane returned to Mexico City as a precaution following lightning strike.
“He landed at 9:33 p.m. without incident. The flight will resume soon. We suggest contacting the airline,” she added.
