Company
Whether by a swimming pool, a river or the sea, drowning is the real danger of summer. This is one of the most frequent accidents in the summer period and causes several thousand deaths each year.
To limit the risks, a study has just been unveiled. She gives simple and effective advice to holidaymakers. Beyond increased vigilance, surveillance installed at the main posts or even the securing of swimming pools and other water points, a study focused on a very specific piece of data that would make it possible to change the situation.
A question of colors
The American company Alive Solutions, which specializes in water safety, has looked into prevention in the event of drowning. She discovered a trick that would make it possible to react more quickly if someone is drowning, whether it is a child or an adult. This detail in particular would concern the color of the swimsuit. According to tests carried out by the company, it would have an impact on the ability to detect someone underwater or not.
To come to this conclusion, the company placed several swimsuits of different colors on the bottom of a light-bottom, dark-bottom and lake bottom pool. Result: brightly colored swimsuits were much easier to spot (yellow, neon orange, etc.). In contrast, the white bathing suits merge with the reflections of light on the surface of the water. Blue would also be less easily identifiable, since it is the color of water. The most showy color for clear-bottom pools? Neon orange and neon pink. If you haven’t done your holiday shopping yet, you know what you have to do.
