Windows 11 deployment is now complete. Clearly all eligible Windows 10 PCs have access to the free update. It is therefore not surprising that its market share is on the rise following a few months of stagnation.
The deployment of Windows 11 has reached its final phase allowing it to land as a free update on all compatible systems. This large-scale availability should in theory make it possible to accelerate its presence on the market. The latest figures shared by Steam confirm this once once more, at least in the gaming segment. If everything is green, Windows 11 is still very far from Windows 10.
In detail Windows 10 64 bits is present on more than 7 out of 10 PCs. Its market share reaches 71.26%. It fell by 2.63% due to the rise of Windows 11. During the same period, this environment increased by 1.64% to reach 21.23%. In third position we find an abandoned OS, Windows 7. Despite maintenance stopped since January 2020, it still equips 3% of PCs in the Steam community. As for non-Windows platforms, macOS sits at 2.45% and enjoys a 0.25% increase from the previous month.
More generally, Microsoft occupies the gaming field overwhelmingly. Windows achieves a presence of 96.37% once morest 2.45% for macOS and 1.18% for Linux.
The most popular gaming PC is equipped with 16 GB of RAM, a processor with four physical cores and a GeForce GTX 1060. The latter following years of domination is slowly declining and will soon be replaced by the GeForce GTX 1650.
