Stockholm: Sweden’s teenage star Mondo Duplantis once more created a surprise in pole vault. The player who cleared the height of 6.16 meters in the Diamond League set a world record outdoors.
It is the third time in 25 months that 17-year-old Duplantis has broken the world record. At the indoor meet held in Serbia, Mondo cleared the height of 5.61, 5.85 and six meters, and now he is holding a world record with a historical height. Duplantis participated in the Diamond League meet in preparation for the World Championship to be held from 15 to 24 in Oregon, USA. The actor reached the new record on his second occasion.
The first jump was 5.93 meters. Duplantis surpassed the world record set in Rome in September 2020 by one centimeter. By crossing 6.18 meters, Duplantis broke the record set by French player Reynaud Lavillenie in 2014. Duplantis started practicing pole vault at the age of three. The actor won gold in Tokyo Olympics, World Indoor Championship, Diamond League, European Championship, World Junior Championship, European Junior Championship and World Youth Championship.
