Canoo showed images of his Lifestyle for NASA on social media. The van sports specific colors and must carry the entire crew.

Barely three months later the announcement linking the start-up Canoo to NASA, the fruit of their contract shows itself. The American space agency had indeed ordered electric cars from the young firm.

These vehicles must transport the astronauts of the Artemis project, the new stage in the conquest of space. These future missions must, in 2025, send Americans to the moon.

But the first launches will take place next year, and Canoo has presented the vehicles it intends for them. Indeed, these electric cars will bring the four astronauts to the launch pad. NASA companions and the driver will be in the car, as well as bags and accessories.

In the past, NASA had a contract with Chevrolet, which supplied Corvettes to its astronauts. More recently, SpaceX used Tesla Model Xs to transport Thomas Pesquet in particular.

The model used by the agency is the Lifestyle, a zero-emission vehicle that can carry eight people. The vehicle will display more than 300 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.

Delivery of the NASA-ordered cars is due to take place in June 2023. By then, the Canoo Lifestyle will already be on the road, as the first deliveries are due before then. Normally, the first customers will have their Canoo at the end of 2022, or in the spring of 2023 at the latest. The use of the model by NASA promises to be good publicity for the young brand.
