The Supreme Energy Council in Dubai discusses the procedures for monitoring the circulation and sale of petroleum products in the emirate

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, chaired the 71st meeting of the Council, which was held remotely, in the presence of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Council, and His Excellency Daoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, His Excellency Abdullah bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminium, His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of ENOC Group, and Juan Friel, Director General of Dubai Petroleum Corporation, and Nasser Boushehab, Executive Director of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority.

The meeting discussed several topics, most notably the review of the formation of a permanent committee to monitor the circulation and sale of petroleum products in the Emirate of Dubai, and the savings achieved by the strategy for managing demand for energy and water.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: “In line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to protect the environment and society and ensure the application of the highest standards of security and safety, the Council reviewed the formation of a permanent committee to monitor the circulation of And the sale of petroleum products in the Emirate of Dubai, where His Highness the President of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy issued Resolution No. 3 of 2021 to set the regulatory framework, strategies and legislation for the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas and its derivatives in the Emirate of Dubai to be in line with the highest international standards in this field, and we also aim to regulate business practices Apply the highest international standards in security and safety, and ensure the circulation of liquefied petroleum gas from transportation, storage and distribution in the emirate in accordance with the specifications approved in the country.

His Excellency added: “The Supreme Council of Energy stipulated in its decision that approval must be obtained from it to issue the permit as a permission to complete all approvals and requirements from government agencies in the emirate, each according to its competence and requirements. The Supreme Council of Energy will coordinate with the relevant government agencies to carry out joint inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with workers in this sector by decision and applying the highest standards of security and safety.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi said: “During the meeting, we were briefed on the savings achieved by the Dubai Energy and Water Demand Management Strategy 2030. During 2021, the equivalent of 6.4 terawatts of electricity was saved, approximately 12.5% ​​compared to the usual situation, and regarding 12.2 billion gallons of water , equivalent to 9.4% compared to the usual situation.

His Excellency the Secretary-General added, “Since 2011, energy and water demand management programs have contributed to avoiding 14.1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and saving nearly AED 9 billion. We would like to thank all the concerned parties and program owners who played an active role in achieving these achievements in Emirate of Dubai”.
