The hotel industry faced a crisis following the closure of tourist centers due to the Covid pandemic. Despite the recovery of covid, many employees did not bother to return to their old jobs. Instead, he started looking for other higher paying jobs. Due to this, the hotel industry is in dire straits as they are unable to get people to work.
Acres, the leader in the hotel industry in Europe, is forced to hire even those with no work experience. The company has brands like Mercury, Ibis and Fairmonth in 110 countries. Chief executive Sebastien Bassin said the company will employ 35,000 workers globally. Due to the severe shortage, it was decided to hire people without even considering their resumes. So the workers were hired within 24 hours of the interview.
In France, the company is targeting young people and immigrants. Most of them are students from North Africa. Bassin also mentioned that the new recruits are given six hours of training to understand the job. In the countries of Spain and Portugal, no one can be found to work in the hotel.
Hotel companies are ready to provide employees with high salary, accommodation, bonus and health insurance. It was decided to provide free accommodation to attract employees. Small hotels are also facing labor shortage.
